Behaviour Policy

Applicable to all activities, workshops, and sessions run by Drama Club Salisbury, Make and Create Salisbury, and Make Create Perform and Grow Salisbury.

1. Our Commitment
We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where all children feel welcome and able to express themselves creatively. We encourage kindness, respect, and positive engagement with peers, adults, and equipment.

2. Expectations of Behaviour
All children participating in our clubs are expected to:

- Be polite and kind to others.
- Listen and follow instructions from staff and facilitators.
- Respect all materials, tools, costumes, and equipment provided.

- Work cooperatively and include others.

- Use kind and respectful language at all times.
- Move safely within the space and behave in a way that keeps themselves and others safe.

We encourage creativity and expression but do not tolerate behaviour that disrupts others, damages property, or puts anyone at risk.
 

3. Our Approach
We believe in positive reinforcement and will always aim to support children in making good choices. In the event of inappropriate behaviour, our approach is:

- Step 1: Verbal reminder and redirection.
- Step 2: If behaviour continues, a short time-out from the activity may be used.
- Step 3: Continued disruption or serious incidents will be discussed with parents or carers.
- Step 4: In rare or repeated cases, we may request that a child takes a break from attending sessions. Ongoing issues may result in permanent exclusion from the club.

We reserve the right to refuse service or participation if a child’s behaviour persistently impacts the wellbeing or safety of others.
 

4. Encouraging a Positive Environment

We regularly talk to children about group values and model respectful behaviour. We welcome parent support in reinforcing our expectations and appreciate open communication if any concerns arise.
